Adventure

Mark Twain Dig for Hidden Treasure

We have a tendency to think of our boys’ love of adventure as a problem that gets them in trouble. Could it be, though, that God made them adventurous? That He wants them to have boldness and ambition – in His service?  Don’t discourage the adventurousness of your boys. Instead, teach them to only risk their life for things worth dying for. Read them missionary stories that will help them to see the great adventure of a life following God at all costs. Tell them about fire jumpers and others who risk their lives for others. Point them to all the many righteous ways adventure can come about in a man’s life. Raise them to be bold men like John Paton and Hudson Taylor and Samuel Adams. We need men like that.
